Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

So this morning in church I was looking at my daughter who turned 6 years old this past July. My heart did a flipflop as I looked at her and suddenly realized she is growing at a rate I am not mentally or emotionally prepared for. Her long blonde hair and ice blue eyes are not like mine or my husbands. You see she is adopted along with 4 of our other children. When I look at her I don’t see my “adopted” daughter I see this tiny little girl with a head full of curls who could barley talk in a full sentence. She was feisty and into everything she could get her tiny little hands in. I also saw the beautiful child she is growing into. How smart she is and her sassiness that I secretly love about her. She lacks for no words now as she talks a mile a minute. I know at some point she will grow into a woman a make a life of her own. I am so thankful that I get to be her mother. God knew long before she was ever born I would be. That is so huge to me. I love her beyond words and pray that I show her everyday.
